Pft, I write letters like I do everything else: do it on the spot. I just let whatever comes to mind pour out onto the letter until it’s ridiculous, maybe throw in a picture, then send it on its way.

And I’m gonna love your letter WHATEVER it is, so do not worry too much about the content.

Ah, I share the “wanting to actually type them out first and then copy them down” sentiment. See, when I hand-write something, I have a compulsion to make sure it looks perfectly perfect. Even if it’s something insignificant, I’ve been known to re-write it if some of the individual letters don’t look “good” enough. It’s just another of my random compulsions, but because of it, it’s so much easier to type stuff out..!

I haven’t written a proper letter in years. I used to write postcards to my uncle all the time about how I was a spy, and he’d send me back letters with elaborate stories about his weird neighbours and how he was sure they were evil villains.

I occasionally make cards for my cousins, but that’s not the same as sending a real letter. I mean, they’re 5-7, so, yeah. I got a letter from my friend last year (he was at camp), but forgot to write back. I don’t even know the last time I wrote a letter.

I, too, have trouble writing letters. Even though these days the only letters I send are short and mostly accompany packages, I can’t seem to get something on paper

I like writing letters. I write long letters to my bestie, who is equally fond of writing snail mail. So that works out. Aside from that, no one ever writes me any snail mail so I don’t really write out long letters

This reminds me, I need to write and mail a thank you note to my friend…!

I’m the same as you. I can write a ridiculously long email or Facebook message, but when it comes to writing a letter, with a pen on real paper, I go blank. It’s the same when I try to write fiction, the words just dry up. I don’t know why exactly, possibly I don’t want to make a mistake? Whenever I cross out a word, I’m tempted to rewrite the whole page to make it look neater. I don’t like pencil for the same reason, it gets all smudgy and makes the page look a mess. That, and my hand writing looks like a 3rd grader’s.
